Prediction: iPhone OS 4 multitasking isn’t. It will suspend/freeze apps by telling them to write everything out and remember their state, then resume execution and send the delegate a message to resume. This will not bring us background operations; this will let us switch between commonly-used apps, that’s all.

I thought it was a typo in a dataset, but “Phenix City, AL” really exists. I’m in awe.

My 14-year-old self, elated to have 10MB of RAM, would never believe 4GB would not be enough for daily use. -sigh- Where’s my 16GB notebook, Apple?

I hate you, iTunes Connect. Every time I need to do something, you’re down.

They added a crapload of compu-crap to Castle for this last episode. It’s now pretty much ruined. The charm was the old-fashioned-ness of the police work.

I forgot how much I loved writing for Mac OS X. The iPhone is such a reduction in capabilities that it gets tiring trying to do simple things. Mac OS X is so much more capable, especially in Snow Leopard. I really need to resurrect some of my old Mac OS X apps to stay sane.

Mode-switching to Python from Obj-C is never as painful as going back. Damned semicolons.

abbreviation Epic Unqualified Total Fuckup. In an astounding EUTF, Twitter changed their API to return unsorted results, thus breaking most Twitter clients, during SWSW ‘10.

Launchd Editor has been broken for quite a while (doesn’t start in Snow Leopard). What gets me to open it back up again? An email from someone at NASA JPL wondering when I’ll update it. JPL. Think “moon”. Yeah, I’ll update it.

Funny thing. I quit Mail and suddenly my computer is responsive. I start it up and everything hangs and moves like molasses. Yet, the CPU and disk meters show no activity is taking place. WTF?

Postal spammers, a tip: you can’t say “important information enclosed” and address it to “current resident”. Those wind up in the green bin without a glance.

I love you, Texas. But if you let these Board of Education folks keep taking away American history and replacing it with the history of the Protestant Reformation, I’ll leave you like a burning house. I’m serious.

Bored with America, I changed iTunes to browse the UK store and found a wealth of podcasts that were actually interesting. Cheers, mates. (Go to the iTunes Store and scroll to the bottom. Click on the flag in the lower right. Pick a more interesting country. Click on Podcasts. No, you can’t buy anything.)

I hate kettle chips and think all of you are weird for liking them. IT’S JUST BURNT POTATO, FOLKS. It’s the near-ashen remains of greatness. It’s not a chip; it’s potato cracklin.

I’m staring at someone else’s code and shaking my head. The only thought in my head is: “What the hell were you thinking? Why … what … huh?” This is what happens when OpenGL developers get a hold of Obj-C. Never let this happen to you.
